Happy 4th of July!
The 2015 National APAMSA conference details have been announced.
It will be held on Saturday, September 26th at the University of California, Irvine.

UW APAMSA members in Seattle and in WWAMI sites may apply for funding to attend APAMSA's three annual conferences.
Funding may cover conference registration, travel, and lodging costs.
Members are encouraged to apply for UWSOM Dean's Office conference travel grants at the beginning of the Fall and Winter quarters.

UW APAMSA sent four members (Chris Arakawa, Bernard Do, Danee Hidano, Anh Le) to attend the APAMSA Region VII conference at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine on Saturday, April 25th.
The theme of this year's conference was Leadership in Medicine.

UW APAMSA presents a talk by Dr. Jason Ko on his latest research!
Nerve Transfer Surgery: The (New) Frontier for Brachial Plexus Injuries, Tetraplegia, and Beyond
Nerve transfer surgery has expanded treatment options for numerous devastating problems, including brachial plexus, spinal cord, and amputation injuries. In this presentation, Dr. Ko will discuss how novel surgical techniques and outside-the-box thinking have led to advances in patients' function and quality of life.

Dr. Ko is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine and the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Washington. He practices at Harborview Medical Center and at Northwest Hospital and Medical Center.

UW APAMSA welcomes Dr. Frederick Chen as our faculty advisor!
Dr. Chen is chief of family medicine at Harborview Medical Center and UW associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He attended medical school at the University of California, San Francisco and received his master’s of public health in epidemiology from UC Berkeley. After completing his residency in family medicine at the University of Washington, Dr. Chen was a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar, where he developed his research interest in health policy and medical education.
